Upgrading from Xpress Pro, looking for Avid OEM Keyboard for MC. Anyone have any sources? Looked at Bella and Logikeys, but would prefer the "real deal". Noticed that there are ProTools keyboards in the Avid store, just wondered why there aren't any Avid keyboards there.
Thanks for any pointers,
Ken
Alternatively, could someone please capture an image of the MC 3.0 default keyboard layout settings from within the application and post it?
I know that MC 3.0 comes with an Xpress Pro keyboard template, but I'd like to compare the default MC 3.0 layout to my current Xpress keyboard to see if the different functions are those that we'd use enough to make a new keyboard (and learning a new layout) worthwhile.
Thanks again,
I've gotten MC keyboards from my Avid reseller. You should contact an Avid reseller in your area to see if they have them.

Hi Ken,
How about just remapping the MC keyboard to match whatever your current Xpress Pro mapping is? Then you wouldn't have to learn anything or get any new keyboards.
good luck,Carl

If you let me have your email address I'll send you something I put together. I tried doing it through here but not sure how to add attachments.

Hi, Graham - I'd certainly appreciate it. Email address is my forum userid (at) yahoo.com ... thanks!
Hi, Carl - that's what I'm thinking, actually. Just wanted to see if I could find out what the standard MC3.0 keyboard mapping is to compare with my existing keyboards to see how significant the differences are. If the MC functions aren't those that we'd use often, remapping will probably be the way to go.
On the other hand, we train and use college kids to allow them to get some hands on experience with the system, and may want to stay at least "semi" standard with what they might see once the get out into the real world.
Have just ordered MC upgrade as well as a new workstation and want to plan ahead to get the new system in place as quickly as possible once everything arrives.
I've sent it, hopefully you will get it but you just never know.

I received it, and it's just what I needed (and more!). Thanks for your kind help.
(by the way, excellent idea for a mouse pad)
I received it and it's just what I need, thanks very much for your help!
(ps - excellent idea for a mouse pad for training, by the way)
no problem, glad i could help.
I'm having the same questions, could you forward that to me as well: rbradleyc@hotmail.com
Thank you
Just forwarded what Graham sent, hope it's as useful to you as it was to me. In fact, I'll attempt to place a copy of the image here in case others can benefit.
Good idea!
But is there a way to get a higher resolution of the image? This one is barely readable, at least to my strained eyes, and surely not printable... Our students usually have a screen copy of the keyboard-window pinned to the wall until they get used to the layout we're forcing them to use, but it's just the symbols, and they need to get used to those as well...
Btw: Our policy (teaching arts and media creation, involving some cam/cut work) is to not let them change the basic layout the first couple of sessions, only add functions as they need them. I believe that for a student it's easier to adjust his fingerstrokes to the keyboard than the other way round, especially since this layout emerged from the experience of daily professional usage. And most of them become comfortable quite fast, especially those who never used any other NLE at all...
not a pro, just a teacher...
