Please help me. I have tried to get help with technical support - they have not fixed my problem.
I can only export 2 GB of video.
Yes, I am exporting as quicktime NOT AVI. Some people think it is only an avi problem (NOT TRUE)
Yes, my drivers are NTFS - besides, another error is to think FAT32 only exports 2gb, not true, they can do 4GB.
Please help. This is my business, rent money, food on the table. This is how I support my family. And I cannot even get out a product which is completely edited.
The other frustrating thing is Avid will not let you know until the export is FINISHED before it tells you that it is too big.
I have cut the timeline up, and it still says too big - BUT, not until hours after it has been exporting.
PLEASE HELP ME - This is a desperate plea, as I have no one else.
Sincerely,
Todd
Todd, if you are in a hurry to get it out why not use an alternate method and leave the trouble shooting for later. I would make a video mixdown, put it on the top track, export a quicktime reference file and use another program to create whatever quicktime file you need. Such as Quicktime Pro, Canopus, TMPEG, After FX, Premiere....
I will figure out an alternative for short term. But, when you spend thousands of dollars on software - only being able to export 2gb??? that is ridiculous.
Anyone know how to export more than 2gb on quickitme?
I tried what you said. Did the video mixdown, but STILL unable to export as a qucktime reference. I shot it in HDV.
Yes you can export QT files larger than 2 or 4 GB. I have done 100+ GB QT.
What codec are you using?

QT does not support MPEG stream natively. So HDV QT reference is not possible. You will need to transcode first.

Dom,
Please, enlighten me. I exported as quicktime movie / animation / even field / 1440,1080 / 601,709)
What am I doing?
I also often export much larger than 2GB files.. just finished exporting a 7.6GB file to our FCP suite this morning.
I don't know exactly why your system won't let you do it, and if you've made sure your drives are formatted correctly, then you might try transcoding your sequence to a different format vs. sticking with HDV. once transcoded, you will be able to export out a QT ref file and encode for your DVD

Yes, my drives are formatted correctly. With this same system, I used Premiere Pro, and never had this problem.
I did a video mixdown and exported as quicktime reference, but get choppy playback. WHAT IS WRONG WITH AVID????
I have called and emailed technical support - but have not gotten the help I need.
I am sorry for venting, I am just so frustrated, as my client needed this last week - I SIGNED a contract. I will be in trouble if I don't get this out.
Anyone, anywhere... SAVE ME
Fazz,
Your link will not open. But, in is not an ntfs fat issue. fat32, allows 4gb. and I have ntfs.
thanks for the help though
Try this instead.
I don't believe this is an Avid issue. It sounds more like a system problem. We export large QTs all the time.
Have you tried exporting the large QT to your internal HD?
Do you really want to know what's wrong...or do you just want me to fix it?

Can you list your drive configurations for us? How many drives (in total in the setup), drive letter assignments. Which drive is set as the Media store for the project at hand.

Sorry but I am unsure what you are asking. My only question was what version of QT are you using?
Playback is choppy on what? The QT file in QT player? What codec did you use? A HD QT Animation or even DNxHD often does not play smoothly in QT Player because of the horsepower (drive, CPU, etc) needed.
Yes,
I have exported and imported from an internal HD.
Version of quicktime is 7.4.5.
I am exporting as animation. But, have 4gigs, and a powerful processor: intel core 2 duo E6700.
My video card is Nvidia quadro FX 3450/4000 sdi
