I hate television. I hate it as much as I hate peanuts. But I can't stop eating peanuts.

jveekeres: Jason how do you manage the Lanshare to shutdown automatically?
Ahhh, well, it actually doesn’t. I know im going to open myself up to a lot of criticisms with this one. Sorry, but here I go.
I have the cyber power control panel on the lanshare set to start the shutdown procedure after 12 minutes of a power loss. With unity, what happens is it will save its metadata, once you tell windows server to shut down. After the meta data saves, that wonderful little box pops up and says, “metadata has saved, it is safe to shut down the system”. Well, I haven’t been able to get past that. Basically what would happen is the UPS’s would die, and the chassis would shut off. They won’t reactivate until someone goes in and manually turns them back on.
I know, I know, not a smart way to shut it down safely.
I know ive asked before here, but does anyone know of a way to get past that dialog box? A way to have the lanshare and ZX safely shut down after the metadata has saved?
MANY MANY thanks to anyone who can shed some light on that one.
Jay
Oh yea, I TOLD the guy who designed and built our new building over a year ago that we needed a standby generator, at least a 15kw. I was told HA! Who's gonna pay for that!
I know the feeling.
Thx jason... sometimes it gets worse.. As I said I have a 60Kva UPS with 33 65Ah batteries. That gives me more then an hour or two of battery time at the current load. Next to that I have a 350Kva generator. Both are huge... It used to power all facilities inc. lights and airco of a big brother house.
Now the company has decided that we need to move to a new location as reality shows are over. I'm having trouble convincing project managers that it would be very stupid if we don't use these machines again.
I have the all the stuff and still... do we need that? Knowing that greece, where I am, has an overloaded power grid and a history of big power cuts and strikes of the power company, I sometimes keep banging my head on my desk.....
Back to the topic:
How do we get rid of that dialog box? Randall? Jeff?
How do we get rid of that dialog box? Randall? Jeff?"
You can't. Sad but true.
Avid.... Please fix this detail in 4.1.7. Build in the option that automatic shutdown is possible
