    Timecode burn in render speed

In SD PAL project with BITC generator I get a render time that is greater than the squence length. It plays real time with a green dot fine.

It uses one of my eight cores and has a total CPU usage of 4-6%.

Can someone test this to see if this is typical, this is on my HPXW8400 duel quad core machine.

I have xw 8400 with 4 core render time for PAL 1:1 10b SD 43minut of material in 19min. But only one core use 12-20%.

That's still a lot faster than I get, more cpu usage too. But hardley optimsed as per release notes.

I wonder if it is more GPU bound.

    Edit: nm

Re: Timecode burn in render speed

I'm thinking that my hardware isn't set up as well as could be as I get less performance than my HP XW8000, duel processor, real time effects rendered at real time speed, now they are slower with a 8 core computer that is 3 1/2 years newer and has a better graphics card. Although I haven't had a single error message with MC.

I'm no expert and would value any further comparisons of render speeds and CPU usage.

As far as I can tell I have a perfectly set up media composer as per the book, with proper spec hardware and all performance tweeks done, correct bios ect.  Just don't understand slow renders.

I haven't got the nitrus hardware, I'm sure that would make it quicker but still.

Is there any advantage in running Vista?
