Hi,
Today, Avid suddenly acts really strange.
It hangs up everytime I close a bin or a project.
There are no error mesages or whatsoever. Do you have a quick answer for this?
Thank you.
It could be corrupt settings. Scroll down to the fourth post of this thread where Randall Rike explains how to delete and rebuild your settings. Try that and see if it solves the problem.
good luck,Carl
There is no such thing as a video emergency. My Demo Website
thanks.
will try that.
Ok, I tried deleting those files. Then, Avid started to have error when relaunching because of corrupted user folder/files.
Since I cannot delete the old AvidUser folder, I just renamed the old AvidXpressProHD folder so I can re-Install a fresh one.
I re-Installed the AvidXP editor. AvidXP launched fine except for the WEIRD INTERFACE. very wrong:
- Windows/tools all bunched in the middle - all toolsets!
- It won't go to a certain spot when dragged
- saving current toolset is useless. it goes back stacked mode when recalled!
- creating a new user profile doesn't seem to help
- Now, it hangs-up again when I close the project.
Should I try to delete the setting/user files again? I'm afraid it will cause the same issue. I also just installed a monitor switcher on my second monitor to toggle it between 2 PCs. Could this somehow affect Avid?
Any ideas?

Thanks.
Whatever caused your initial problem seems to be getting worse. I'd try reinstalling XPress Pro to get everything back to how it is supposed to be.
I already did a re-install. I can get by now since I have a deadline to make. It's just weird, my tools/windows does not want to go where I want it. It's like it's snapping out of a particular spot.
Tikboy:Have you gone into your toolsets area, chosen the appropriate ones, sized and positioned your windows and tools, and then "save current"?

Yes, That's what I was trying to do.They would snap out from a certain spot. Whenever I get close to what I want and Save current, it does not remember it.
Thank you guys anyway!
I think I got it. It's my desktop/monitor arrangement. I just flippped my mains and extension and it somehow fixed it. My toolsets and workspace looks fine now!
It could be resolution issues. I have one VGA and a DVI output connectors.
Thanks!
Also, make sure in a dual monitor arrangement that the left hand monitor is designated as the primary monitor. We have found in our own environment that running monitors at their native highest resolutions, like 1600 x 1200 causes problems in the Avid application.
Thank you!
I'm wondering if things are a lot better with Composer. I mean are there less hiccups if I upgrade?

Media Composer and Xpress Pro are very similar. If your system won't run Xpress Pro, it probably won't run Media Composer either. Sorry I don't have better news.
