QuickTime settings in Sorenson Squeeze 4.5.7

I'm having issues with playback of the QT .mov file after exporting it from Sorenson Squeeze 4.5.7. Anytime the camera pans/moves I get an interlacing effect.

I'm exporting for local playback through CD/DVD. Original footage is uncompressed PAL DV, exported as Avid QT Reference.

    QT version installed is 7.1.6.

I've been using modifed Quicktime CD preset in Squeeze, and tried all kinds of combinations of Sorenson Video 3 Pro codec settings: looks like the better one is Sorenson 1-Pass VBR Method at data rate of about 1000 Kbps. My frame size is 640x360. Image Smoothing is turned off.

Does anyone know of a way to fix the interlacing issue on non-static frames when exporting out of Squeeze, or perhaps I'm not using the right settings, etc.

The original QT Ref file doesn't have this problem when I'm playing it back.

    Many thanks.

I assume that means you're going to burn a dvd or cd?  If so, what burning software?  Can you bypass Sorenson Squeeze load the QT ref. to your burning software?

Did you try the do nothing filter trick?

Create a new custom filter, and note that the “interlace” option is default checked. So, uncheck the interlace option, and end up with a filter with nothing activated. Now apply the filter.

    Hope this helps

    Hi,

Thanks for your suggestions! I've tried applying the filter with nothing activated - it didn't seem to do much in regards to frames that contain some sort of motion. Static frames look fine, but any panning motion looks awfully pixelated.

I will try an MPEG-4 codec instead of MOV, will see what happens.

I will just burn the video clip as .mov or mp4 on a CD to play through a computer - it's not for a commercial DVD distribution.
