    Still frame while playing problem

hello forgive me if i am being a bit of an idiot but i have a problem

when i hit play after importing some new footage in, the audio plays but the video just shows the first frame.

i can scroll forward using the skip one frame button but then there is no audio (of course)

if i drag clips i have chopped down into the timeline and hit play the same happens

Sorry if this is an obvious one but i am used to a mac and FCpro and i just cant get my small brain around this

    any help would be great

Without system specs, we can only guess.  But, typically, this is due to the video card, it's drivers, or the Display Properties setup.

    Re: [problem

This kind of sounds like a problem I sometimes have, but have found a workaround for.  Do you ever get the famous flamethrower error when this happens?  Sometimes I do, but not always.  Here's what I've figured out...

If I have "Output to DV Device" selected but there isn't a place for the DV signal to go (such as if the tapedeck connected via firewire was turned off), the same thing happens to me.

Sometimes it seems to me that this is related to trying to play a timeline with non-rendered clips out to a DV device, which won't play to an external DV Device anyway.  But thinking about it now, perhaps that's just coincidence.

If there's no place for a signal to go, playing the source monitor gives me the same thing - Audio and the only the first frame of video, usually followed shortly by a flamethrower error.

By the way, I do not have Mojo.  (But I have moxie and spunk!)
