    view all nested effects

It would be great to have some way of viewing all effects applied to a clip without having to step in. Perhaps in the effect editor below the selected effect is could list all other effects and where they fall in the hierarchy (above, below etc.)

    Re: view all nested effects

    Hi,

In segment mode, double click on the effect icon in the timeline and it will open up to show nested effects.  I'm not in front of a machine to test it out, but it either shows all nested effects, or you can double click again to expand it.

    good luck,
    Carl

In addition, you can set your timeline to "Show Effect Contents".

    Re: view all nested effects

Well... sorry for voicing this on our neighborhood, but the FCP Filter Window is really sweet. It shows you the effects applied to any clip and allows parameter editing and priority changes with a simple drag operation. Something like that would be nice... like an "expanded nesting viewer"... you know, our beloved Avid apps doesn't have an easy way for change priority on nested effects... (timeline shuffling involving the eventual creation of new and not-really-needed tracks is not easy in my book)

Please, don't send me a hitman. I'm not FCP-awed... but THAT feature rocks.

    Re: view all nested effects

You actually can do this in the Advanced effect editor. At the bottom you will see the list of effects applied. I haven't played with it a lot but I think you can reorder them there. I'm really hoping they make that even more functional soon.

    Re: view all nested effects

    Hi BLKDOG!

Ummm.... just checked. The Advanced Effect Editor interface could be the frontend for a really powerful "nested effect manager"... BUT:

    1. Not all effects use the Advanced Editor...

    2. The nested effects list doesn't allow direct access to parameter editing...

    and...

    No reordering.

Accessing render bit depth parameters from there would be a nice addition too... (via CTRL =, perhaps...)

    Peace.

    Re: view all nested effects

I've made my peace with Avid's way of stacking effects now that I understand it a little better, but it really is obnoxious compared to the way AE or FCP does it. Even nodes are less annoying than stepping in/out all the time and only being able to work on one effect at a time.

    Re: view all nested effects

Right now I would love to see when inside a six layer or more nest (or any number of layers for that matter), the CTRL + ability to drag tracks up or down in the stack with the original track order intact, until I choose an option "reorder tracks" Undo would be "restore tracks".
