Hey all,
As an incredibly amateur filmmaker a lot of video was shot poorly resulting in a lot of grain. Now, I'm sure there's nothing that can completly save some of this footage, but I was wondering is there any filter in avid I am missing that might help against grain? Maybe there's a plugin for avid that can do this? If you can point me in the right direction it would be appreciated. Thanks.
Sapphire and Boris BCC AVX have filters to remove grain. Just be aware that as they remove grain, they often soften the image as well.
Hi,
Do you have Boris Continuum? There's a denoise filter in there. I've never needed it, so I can't say if it's any good.
good luck,Carl

Thanks guys. I don't have boris but was looking into it for other reasons. And I'll take caution about the softer image. I'll have to check into some of that - thanks.

I recommend it highly. It comes with a ton of useful effects, and if you upgrade to Media Composer you get it for free.
Also, if you have the budget for it, check out Sapphire effects plug-ins. A free trial download is available from www.genarts.com . I highly recommend it. Next best thing to After Effects.
