Problem with the loopback adapter in a clean install

Hi, I perform a clean install of my system (ds nitris dual boot v8.4 qfe1 on HP8400)

and the loopback adapter run slowly, I configure exactly as the DS support website explain, with the IP 100.100.100.1 ( I remember in the first instalation the ACSR change this IP, but I don´t know why).

The Loopback run only at 10.00 Mbps

what it´s the correct configuration for the loopback adapter?

    How I can solve this?

    Thanks

    rob.

     Hi,

This is a perfectly normal speed for the Loopback adapter. You are correct that you must assign a static IP address for it to function correctly. Without any other network connectivity I would also ensure the onboard NIC is disabled to avoid any Indexing issues.

    Hope this helps

Re: Problem with the loopback adapter in a clean install

    Hi, thanks for the responce.

I have a HP 8400  (dual boot) configuration.

the 8400 have a problem that if you disable the onboard NIC from XP (i have x64), the system reboot every few hours.

It´s a good option disable the NIC from the bios?

    Thanks

    Rob.

Yes - disable the NIC in the BIOS - this should stop the re-boots

And just in case...  Verify also, if you use an ATTO UL4D in this 8400, that you are indeed running with the latest qualified driver.  The one previously approved and shipped on the application DVD and download Center is causing system freeze and stability problems.  This is fully resolved by using the ATTO 3.10.x driver update, available on the Avid DS Support Center or from the Knowledge Center off this web site.

Re: Problem with the loopback adapter in a clean install

Hi, thanks Slabross, I use the new driver for the UL4D, I found the solution in the DSWiki page some time ago.

As newbie in the DS I have 2 more questions about the instalation (my system are dual boot)

    First:

Sometimes when I change from the Symphony to the DS, in the boot process after the Win XP 64 logo the monitor still in black and I need to force restart (like a device conflict), I think that the cause is the Symphony Dongle, when I unplug the dongle the system boot right.

I try installing the dongle driver in the DS x64 partition to avoid any conflict and the system show the black monitor "Every" time that I boot. (at this time I uninstall the dongle driver in the x64 partition).

What it´s the correct setting for the dongle in the X64 partition to avoid this? (and to avoid the yelow "?" in the device manager?).

    Second:

I need to install an atto 41es fiber card to connect the symphony to a lanshare (I know the configuration and this are ok), when I use the system as DS, I only plan to use the RTRX array (I know that the DS can´t be connected to a lanshare) I make some test and have the same problem of comflict with the black screen in the boot process when the Fiber board are installed ( I try with no atto 41es drivers in the DS partition and disabling the fiber board in the device manager with no solution) at this time the fiber board are not installed.

How I need configure an atto celerity 41es in the DS x64 partition to work fine?

What is the correct driver for the 41es DS x64?

(with no conection to the lanshare).

    Thanks

    Rob.

Re: Problem with the loopback adapter in a clean install

Personally, I have never seen the Symphony Dongle causing problems when you are running the DS (in a dual boot config). You could try to disable this to see if that helps...if not then simply removing the dongle as you state will solve the problem

Can you verify the 41ES card is in slot 3 of the XW8400 (just below the NVidia card)

You could try installing an unqualified ATTO driver, and once installed disable it in device manager - this should keep everything happy.

I have attached an Atto driver that you could try (rename to .rar and extract the installer)

I do not think the symphony dongle would cause a monitor to go black.
