MC3 and single quad intel processors, will it work?

In the list of qualified system, both the single processor HP and Dell is list with 2-core processors, not 4-core. Is it an indication that they faild with 4-core or that Avid just use 2-cores in the test?

The same for all two processor systems. They all is cerified with 2 4-core processors. Does this indicat a failor with just one, ju that Avid only test the 2-processors configuration?

I am tempting to buy a single processor 4-core system, but if Avid will not work, I will not buyConfused.

Maybe the moderators can ask Avid.

Since they also qualify some laptops, that would tell me that a single processor should work, just isn't tested. But that's just me taking a guess.

Berga, I'm about to install MC 3 on a new, purpose built quad core tomorrow.  I'll let you know how I go.

Re: MC3 and single quad intel processors, will it work?

     Hi Berga,

I am running MC3.0 on an intel quad core. Fastest system I have ever had. No hickups (so far!) after two days of intensive testing. Have a look at my system specs. My D.I.Y. workstation was built for under 1.000.- £ and is really rock solid and reliable. I doubt that you will find anything faster for that price.

MC3.0, QT7.4.5, Vista Business x64, Intel Quad Core Q6600 @ 3.4GHz, Asus P5K Mobo (FSB 1500MHz), 8GB RAM (OCZ Reaper @ 950MHz DDR II), GeForce 8800GTX... [view my complete system specs]

Thanks for Your reports. I can not find any Mojo in Your configurations. Does someone with a Mojo (preferable the oldone but results of the SDI is also welcome) have experience with a single quad processor?

Re: MC3 and single quad intel processors, will it work?

Berga, see my system specs, I will replace my CPU with a QuadCore and I do not see the reason why it should not work; the motherboard han an X38 chipset like the approved HP xw4600, and it runs fine with analog Mojo

Berga, if You go this way keep in mind that You'll need a Pyro 64 firewire card (or any other brand with a TI chipset) to drive the Mojo: the embedded firewire has a Via chipset and AFAIK is not suitable for Mojo; You can still use the embedded firewire for external HDs. My Pyro is sitting in the top PCI slot and runs beautifully.

Re: MC3 and single quad intel processors, will it work?

Berga I did some more research as when I purchased my hardware Mojo DX was not out yet, and this is the outcome: I'm going to buy anAsus P5E64 WS Professional motherboard toghether with the QuadCore cpu upgrade as this board has a PCIe x4 slot as required by Mojo DX; please note that this does not mean that it will work with Mojo DX but that it may work with it. As for driving old Mojos I bet it will because it has the same chipset/expansion slots of the Maximus formula board I'm succesfully running now (except for the PCIe x4 slot). The only thing is that this board is running with the new DDR3 memory chips, quite expensive if I may. Good luck with Your decision making

Re: MC3 and single quad intel processors, will it work?

    Nice to know.

My experience with Avid is that it accepts most computers as software only, but the DNAs is a bit more demanding. Therefore, I am waiting for Your real world experiences with Mojo and four cores.

I will not buy a new computer untill late summer/early autom when the orders comes in after the summer hollyday. The summer is plan for pleasure and training with the new MC3 system. I have older firewire cards which works with Mojo, maybe I move one of these to the new system if necessary.
