I upgraded from AXP to AMC 2.8 two months ago without a hitch, now just finished upgrading to 3.0 and I get a prompt at startup stating: "Your system is not licensed to run this version of the software. Please contact an Avid representative for further assistance", afterwards the program closes. Has anyone had the same experience?
Did you upgrade the dongle?
I did not know I had to update the dongle, I will look into doing this.
Thanks
"I did not know I had to update the dongle ..."
... I guess, but right at the top of the MC Downloads, it says:
Important Dongle Information
All users running Avid Avid Media Composer require a dongle update to run Avid Media Composer 3.0.

Hi, I too am stuck at this point. How do we update the dongle? I've read that there's no need to re-register.
The page I have found to update the dongle requires a dongle key that should come with the upgrade. I received a key when I purchased the upgrade from pro to 2.8. I used this and I believe that key can only be used once.
Where am I going wrong?
Thanks, Paul
If you purchased after March 17, 2008, your upgrade is free ...

Randall, I purchased in the pro to 2.8 upgrade in April. Should I have been given a new updater with this download?
Try going to that link. Enter your info, and see what happens. Report back.
That page is how I originally downloaded the upgrade, Once the info is inputted I get to page with a choice of downloads.
Towards the bottom of the page its says that if dongle didnt updater eportas a prob to download centre.
ahhhhh, it's not called updater.avd. It's versioner.avd. Silly me..
Thanks for the help!
