So far, I've been getting errors on launch. "Segmentation fault" in thread "Main Thread", at address 0x0"
I relaunch and that goes away.
I digitize from DVCam. When I play back a clip with music, the audio slows and pitch bends, like dragging your finger across an LP or when the power fluctuates running an open reel tape. Very analog sounding, but wrong.
It happens whether or not the DV Audio Pattern is locked or unlocked.

Do you have a Mojo, Mojo SDI or Adrenaline attached to this system? If so, there is a bug that can cause this error when using MC 3 and running OSX Leopard.

No, but I did have my DSR-45 attached and turned on. When I unplugged the FW cable, the problem went away. I had a feeling this was related to the known bug. Thanks, Todd.
It very well could be. as I said, it's ANY FW Device.
I get the errors with my FW dries attached.

My "Segmentaton Fault" error may be due to Magic Bullet Looks. I got it again just invoking Magic Bullet Damage.
I have to say I'm somewhat disappointed by the multi-processor implementation. Although all 8 of my cores are being used during renders, they seem to be all peaking around 30-40% according to the Activity Viewer. I was hoping there was going to be better CPU utilization this build.
I know they're different animals, but the latest After Effects CS3 build on Intel pegs all 8-cores during rendering.

Todd -
Interesting as I have not seen this problem using my FW 800 drive, only when I have the analog Mojo hung off the system. I pushed this around pretty good during beta. Are you getting these errors with FW 800 as well?
sw
Yep. This and Bus error crashes. Not often but the logs all seem to point to the packet exchange issue.
If this bug is still there I wont upgrade for now. Our suites are set up to monitor through firewire, this issue is making working with audio impossible.

"Any FW Device."
Even an FW Drive that contains media? Then why upgrade at all?

The FW drives aren't as big a problem as the DNAs. What I have found is that the FW drives will give you a bus error every once in a while (I have a couple of them a week). The error is MUCH more serious with the DNAs.
Thanks. I'm sure Avid folks are alllll over this. Is the reason this was overlooked because they were so focused on getting the hardware and software out? We are getting two turnkey suites with MC Nitris DX's, and from I was told it doesn't use FW, but PCI. So maybe the shift to PCI let the FW problem slip in? Just speculating. I know them folks were cranking on getting everything rolled out. And nothing is perfect as we know from history of major rollouts of anything. Just curious.
I have my toast maker close to the computer, and the signal from avid goes and come back! I can solve the problem using my fon, but not too close, not too far .... I will try with refrigerator on the back ....maybe I will be lucky and MC3 will work fine!!!
what a stupid news from avid (NEW, NEW, NEW!!!) and now we have a big bug on the NEW version!
Why they didn't test it before .... ????
for the refrigerator I will inform you ... stay tuned!
There is some discussion in the Avid-L2 that Avid may require help from Apple to solve this issue as it is a OS level induced problem (something about random flawed data transfer over FW).

Pip, we battled this problem all through the Beta process and eventually (Late in the Beta process), thanks to some very hard work on Avid's part, nailed it down to a bug in Leopard. Instead of thanking Avid for the hard work, Apple has pretty much ignored requests for help in fixing it. So, without all the facts, I'd be more inclined to reserve judgement.
If you have a bug, don't put it in download page, don't avoid people to read pages and pages of workaround, install, unistall, pizza and mandolino in all over the world. I like avid more than final cut (that I have), but everything on avid is always difficult!!! it is difficult to buy, difficult to download, difficult to upgrade, difficult and stop!!!!
We always have to read about how (100.000 instruction to do easy thing in other program) let the program works.
Upgrade the dongle, but verify your card, this one is not tested, the other one is too much, the osx has to be the last, but quicktime a little bit less, my mother has to be 70 years old, but the father 3 months and some days less. 3 eggs for the cakes, but don't use ..... come on, people are bored to be in panic for what will be if upgrade... will my job still be ok? will my avid recognize my mojo, and the dongle .... if update it will it work in the other computer I have, will my sister use the new shoes or it will be some problem with avid?
Ok, Avid is a great software, but it is not sufficient for let peolple go crazy.
