Hello all,

Just upgraded to MCA 3.0.  Went to update my dongle with the "Versioner.avd" downloaded from the Download Center and Dongle Manager tells me this in Step 2 of the update, "No dongle compatible with this update file found."  2.7 is the current version of the dongle.  Contacted Avid tech support, and they've confirmed others have had this problem as well.

So is anyone else having this problem?  Does anyone have a solution?

Note: just upgraded my hardware in preparation for rolling out 3.0.  Pay no attention to my current hardware specs. Will update shortly.

I assume you have a valid Avid Assurance contract right?

Thanks for the response Marianna.

Actually, I don't presently have assurance.  However, I had purchased the 2.8 upgrade from my reseller for $995 (moving up from 2.7) utilmately intended to be the path to 3.0.  I have spoken with him and he assures me that I am entitled to a free upgrade to 3.0 (as intended),  He has checked with his AVID rep and he agrees.

I am presently awaiting word from tech support as they indicated they had others with similar issues.

Any ideas?

The download from the update site seems to work now.  I've just done it, and it just worked.

Went to install MCA 3.0 on another workstation.  Had to re-download "Versioner.avd" from the Download Center and this one doesn't work (again).  Noticed this Versioner is dated 06/12/08.  Can someone send me their Versioner.avd from 06/10 or 06/11 so I can proceed?  Or can you help me out that way Marianna?

I'm getting the same error when I try to update my dongle to 3.0 in Mac os x leopard. Any clues ?

I have this same problem on OS X Leopard  10.5.3 - PLEASE HELP!  I just bought this and want to start using it this weekend - this process is so stupid and un-user friendly.

I just upgraded from XPressPro >MC2.8 on osx 10.4.11 > osx10.5.2 then installed MC3.0 and ran the updater file (which showed as a QuickTime icon?) then it says my dongle is invalid!!!

I bought the MC2.8 upgrade and Avid have said I am completely entitles to the FREE upgrade (surely i wouldn;t have been able to download it from Avid if I wasn't legitimate??!!)

Anyhow, i can't edit a darn thing til i fix this, so ANY help would be more than appreciated...

Just call the Tech Support number. Someone will probably send you a modified versioner.avd file, which WILL work with your dongle. That's how I solved it. The tech support guy was very helpfull.

This probably happens becouse not all the "upgrade-compatible" Sys IDs are registered in the versioner.avd file.

Right, well that was painless....

a simple email explaining everything in detail to the wonderful Marianna (moderator for Avid on this forum/thread) and...hey presto....she emailed me back immediately and even followed with a phonecall to ensure the problem was sorted. AND that was at wekend!

It must be said: it's not just the software itself that has improved responiveness. Avid are very on top of things in this busy time around the upgrade.

 I get the same message "No dongle compatible with the update file found". I purchased a new Avid Media Composer after March 17, 2008. I went to http://www.avid.com/protect and filled in the information. After submitting, it said I am eligible to receive Avid Media Composer 3.0. I downloaded the Versioner file, ran the Dongle Manager and got the message. I followed the information if your Dongle does not update and emailed downloadhelp. I received a reply that the file is updated daily and to try it again. It has been a week now and I have been downloading the file each day and keep getting the same results. Do you need to install 3.0 first before updating the Dongle?
