Alright, I have a question about OS.
The ReadME states Leopard 10.5.3 and there is a known issue with FireWire devices with Leopard 10.5.3 and I'm fine with waiting for the fix to be hashed out. But, BLKDOG eluded to the fact that MC 3.0 could be run on Tiger in another post, but I can not find anything officially supporting this.
My question is: If it is possible to run MC 3.0 on Tiger, does one need to do an Archive and Install for that OS as well or is the Archive and Install only for Leopard due to the fact that Leopard is the only supported OS for Mac?

It's default is the "u" button and Yes, all of Avid's dongles are backwards compatible. Load up Tiger and 2.8 and it works fine with a 3.0 Dongle.

I think I need to backtrack on that a bit. After speaking with other Beta testers, it seems that the release candidate does not run on Tiger as easily as some of the earlier builds did. I need load it up and try it but, I didn't have to archive and install for Tiger.
And why are we talking about this in the PC forum again...?
Downloaded MC3, updated, no problems so far. Very smooth - Thanks Avid.
This some good news to have MC ready to ship. I am considering to take up the upgrade path from Liquid Pro to MC3. However I read here about Assurance. What is this? CAn someone explain to me or lead me to any directions? Is this assurance required to be purchased apart from the Upgrade Cost of $1495? Is this an extra hidden cost?
Sorry for my ignorance in this matter but I am new to the AVID MC arena and I do not want to end up having to pay other things which I am not aware of.
Downloaded the MC3 update without problem (free update for me); installation and dongle update went without a hitch; programme fired-up and ran successfully. Now only time will tell as to how stable and reliable this release is.
About the only gripe I have is that there is still no facility, directly within Avid, for keyframeable panning & scanning of HD video resolutions in an SD project. While not as flexible as Avid Pan & Zoom can be with imported still images, the ability to pan & scan the 1920 x 1080 video frame in a 720 x 576 (PAL) 'window' would, nevertheless, allow a great degree of creative control in post.

MC3 installed on adenaline system, all installed smoothly. Initial tests to see how avid takes advantage of my 8 cores with a HQ 3d warp, results a very disapointing 1 core being used! 10 mins for 1 min of footage. At standard quality hard to tell if multiple cores being used as they were all running at 3% or less! CPU optimisation my ****

Anyone have any idea when MC 3.0 Educational will be available?

Reformat>Pan and Scan is keyframable.
r,g,b gamma has been effected on desktop playback in windows media player and needed to be reset in control pannel with latest driver. FX1500, didn't effect QT or Avid.
Color Finesse crashes when promoted to full interface.
Sasquatch - In the MC3 release, we improved the standard quality of the 3D Warp effect (HQ turned off). Try rendering an effect with and without HQ and see if the standard quality will work for you.

thanks Rob, thought it looked better, however doesn't overcome my dissapointment that I'm not ever getting more than 15% cpu usage. And my color finess plugin is broken.
Mscic,
Assurance is Avid support offering. You dont need to uy a contract in order to take advantage of the Liqwuid promo to one of the new editors. However if you do decide to this is what it would net you:
Technical Alerts Proactively emailed to Assurance customers, these alerts provide notification of potential problems, symptoms and resolutions.
QuickTip Webinars Assurance customers can register for these monthly Webinars to learn best practices, procedures and technical tips from Avid technical experts.
Hardware Support For customers in the Americas and Asia Pacific, hardware support will now be part of standard Assurance support contracts.* This level of support used to be available only if a customer purchased an extended hardware warranty. We’ve wrapped this support into Assurance contracts to help our customers save time and money while enjoying more comprehensive support.
Software Updates and upgrades
Knowledge Base Support
Technical Support - Telephone (9am - 9pm Eastern Time, excluding Avid holidays)** Electronic (9am - 9pm Eastern Time, excluding Avid holidays)**
15% Savings Customers purchasing a support contract and editing product together save 15% on their Assurance support agreement. This savings is applicable to 1, 2 and 3 year contracts (pre-payment required) but is only available through December 31, 2008.
Not sure where you reside so I can comment on pricing.

If all he CPUs are active, but less then 50%, that's an indication that the bottleneck is not the CPU. Are you working with SD material?

What version of Color Finess are you using?
