BTW, I purchased the Mac Pro with the intention of getting Avid and learning the software.
when you guys say "Clean install", what do you mean by that and under what circumstances should you do one?
A "Clean install" means reformat the HDD and install a fresh copy of the OS. Avid "recommends" you do this for any v3.0 install.

Did the clean install and updated the dongle but now it says on my macbook pro that i don't have enough physical memory. 1.5 gigs is what i have. worked fine with 2.8. does this mean i need to upgrade the ram?

ahays,
You need to understand that the FW problem does not affect the software UNLESS you have a DNA. Other FW devices do cause a bus error but those are not very frequent. I get maybe one a day under heavy use. The DNA problem is much more serious. If you want to use 3.0 as MC soft or with a DX box, then you should be fine.
Do you really want to know what's wrong...or do you just want me to fix it?

Todd Sanderson: What does ther read me say about RAM requirements?
Nothing from what I could find. Just talks about OS. But maybe I overlooked it.
"... does this mean i need to upgrade the ram? ..."
Probably. But, hey, you can get a 4GB kit for under $100.
cool. would you have a link to purchase this?

In the read me, in the Hardware and Software Requirements section, it says go to: http://www.avid.com/products/ to access the list of qualified and supported platforms. Have you tried that?
hey does that "bus error" do anything to the media? does it screw with it at all and you have to re-capture or what?
No, not at all. Just have to restart the app.

Does this DNA problem include Adrenaline? I was looking at upgrading to 3.0 but I need to know if I am going to lose my Adrenaline in the process.
sedavis:Does this DNA problem include Adrenaline?
DNA = "Digital Non-Linear Accelerator"
Adrenaline and Mojo are both "DNA" products. (hint: on your Timeline there's a little button that says "DNA" when the Adren or Mojo are attached)
So, to answer your question... yes it does.
