One of my master clips has become separated from its mxf data files. I tried to relink the file but it will not work. I see the mxf file and I see that master clip but they will not work together. Can i just get a new master clip from the MXF files?
Think for yourself... but take heed of those you have thought before you.
First, let's try a database rebuild. Quit the app. Go into the numerical folders inside the MXF folder inside the Avid MediaFiles folder, sort the contents by date bringing the most recent to the top and delete the two files that identify by type as "MSM Media Database" in a detailed view. On re-launch the system will detect the missing files and build new ones at the "Initializing Media Streams Manager" stage. Your clips should be relinked after that.

THe database rebuilt fine but the Master clip did not relink. This happened right after capture of the file the program crashed (due to my inability to afford proper hardware). It captured the whole tape and moved it into the bin but I think something may have gotten scrambled in the crash.
Thanks
Mike
OK Mike, let's try one more thing. Open the media tool in that project, choose master clips, current project and if you can find that particular clip in the media tool, drag it into a bin.
Thanks Mr. Rubin that worked perfectly.
You're quite welcome. I'm glad that solved your problem.
