Media Composer 2.8.1 with Mac Pro in Win XP.

Hello, I'm italian, forgive my english..

I have bought a mac pro intel 2.8 with leopard os 10.5.3. MComposer  2.8 obviously  don't work with this OSX. I have created a partition with XP and installed avid. The only software perfectly works, but when I connect MOJO SDI I read the following error:

a device on the 1394 bus causing problems. please remove it or disable output to dv device. -ftstatus code . ft_linkinitilizationfailed - flamethrowerlinkmanager::openlink - failed to create link obj ect.

What does it mean? What can I do? HELP ME!

    Thank you....

Re: MEDIA COMPOSER 2.8.1 WITH MAC PRO IN WIN XP

IS that Mojo connected via  the CPU's internal FW bus? IS it on the front or  the back?

Also, what else is connected to the CPU?

Are you booting in XP or are you running an emulator?

Huh? Is the firewire on the back, the internal one.

I am running XP by bootcamp.

Nothing else is connected to the mac ports...

    Any idea?  Thank you!

Re: Media Composer 2.8.1 with Mac Pro in Win XP.

I had the same problem using the Mac Pro's built in Firewire ports. I solved the problem by installing an ADS Pyro PCIe Firewire card and connecting the Mojo to it instead of the built-in ports. For some reason the Mojo doesn't like the Mac Pro's ports on the Windows side, while they're OK in OSX.

Also, if you're running SP2, make sure that you've installed the Windows XP firewire firewire fix update:

    http://support.microsoft.com/kb/885222

I presume this fix is included in SP3, although I haven't tested that update.

    Hope this helps!

Re: Media Composer 2.8.1 with Mac Pro in Win XP.

You can see my specs below. I recently installed Leopard since I wouldn't be using my home system much until MC 3.0 came out. MC 2.8 installed on 10.5.2 but it doesn't work with the Mojo connected. It's OK for editing, though.

I should point out that it is VITAL that you use the ADS Pyro card in Windows, and NOT a generic firewire card. I tried one of those first and it did not work until I got the Pyro.

    Good luck!

Amazing! Updating XP as you have recommended everything works! Even if unfortunatlely XP recognizes only 2 GB of RAM..
Also on the inside/back firewire seems that Mojo correctly works! Thanks JD you  have been precious!  Now we just have to wait for MC 3.0..
    Andrea

PS. I forgot: how can U run Avid software on leopard? Ireally can not!! (also without mojo...)

Re: Media Composer 2.8.1 with Mac Pro in Win XP.

I'm happy to hear it worked out.

I found the following recipe for Leopard somewhere else on the forum and it worked for me. It appears that 3.0 may be arriving next Monday, so you may not want to bother unless you're really desperate...

    1. Update Leopard to 10.5.2 (including Quicktime)

    2. Install Media Composer 2.8 (Not 2.8.3)

    3. Recieved digIO.kext error

    4. Restarted Avid and was prompted to Pace website

    5. Installed Interlok extention for Mac OS v5.6.1

    6. Recieved error "app core midi server quit caused by Direct IO plug-in"

    7. Went to library>audio>mididrivers and dumped everything

    8. Restarted computer and launched Avid

    9. Began editing with no problems

    Cheers,
