    Deinterlacing footage

     Hey,

I have some exported quick time files that are interlaced that was brought into the avid.  Is there a way to deinterlace these clips?

    Re: Deinterlacing footage

Andrew - Seeing this topic, it caught my eye... It's recommended that before going into Sorensen to make a streaming file format, that one de-interlaces in the editing application as it will provide better deinterlacing than Sorensen. Since MC doesn't give you this option on Export, do you recommend applying the timewarp deinterlace to a QT Ref file of the whole sequence before going into Sorenson? And if so, what quality setting do you recommend? "Fluid" looks great, but takes forever to render. Thanks.

    I try to avoid progressive!

If I need progressive from an interlace project I do a sequence mixdown. Apply the fluid timewarp to that mixdown and overnight/nights render that to my C: drive.(This will be the only file in the C drives Avid media folder.)

I open a Progressive project and a new sequence and place the rendered mixdown on C in it. Then export a QT Ref (video only) and use Procoder 3's non interlace source option.

The audio file is not needed in the progressive project as it can come from either the interlaced project or straight from Protools.
