Does anyone know which version of Boris Continuum Complete & Sorensen Squeeze will be shipping with Media Composer v3? V2.8 ships with BCC v4.2 & Sorensen v4.5. Will later versions ship with MC v3?
I do not believe so but I will check and get back to you ASAP.

In addition, does anyone know if Avid DVD will be available as a free Download to those with 2.8 when they upgrade to 3? I know if you buy the boxed upgrade for v3 it ships with Avid DVd, the boxed upgrade from XPRo to 2.8 shipped with DVDit 6 so will there be a link for people to get Avid DVD?
Graham
The full list of 3rd party software SHIPPED with 3.0 will be:
Boris Continuum Complete v5.0.3 Universal Mac and PC
Avid FX v5.8 Universal Mac and PC
Sorenson Squeeze v5 Universal Mac and PC
Avid DVD by Sonic v6 for PC
SmartSound Sonicfire Pro 4.5 Universal Mac and PC
Many thanks for that info.
Those who have just bought Studio Toolkit are not going to be happy, as you will now get Avid FX & Avid DVD by Sonic at no extra charge and there doesn't seem to be any route for those eligible for a free upgrade from v2.8 to v3 by download to get the up to date versions and the extra products.
Susan Baker:there doesn't seem to be any route for those eligible for a free upgrade from v2.8 to v3 by download to get the up to date versions and the extra products.
Which begs the question: Will there be any route for a PAID upgrade to V3 from 2.8, that will include the updates 3rd party apps?
Thanks
Andy
I would hope, in line with Avids 'New Thinking', that those upgrading from V2.8 to V3.0 would be able to download all the llatest software available in the Shipped upgrade to 3.0. It would not require any major developments to be able to include them as links on the download page. I am sure Avid would not make such an error as to not allow this in such early days of the 'New thinking' era.
I'm checking in on this, but I'm pretty sure you WON'T see this as downloads, only as physical shipments. Avid has never had Sorenson Squeeze on their website, for example.
But I'll look into pricing and get back to you guys ASAP.

and Avid DVD so we're nearly there.
AndrewAction:But they have had BCC and Avid FX (glass half full)
This probably depends on the licensing agreement they have with Sorenson. If it is not covered, there is nothing they can do.

AndrewAction:Easy answer (right) dump Sorenson for ProCoder 3, a much better product.
Why would that change? GV and Avid would still negotiate that. And I don't remember ever Canopus/GV products ever being downloadable other than GV/Canopus' site.
I'm not a big fan of ProCoder either. While it does some things well (HDV/MPEG stuff) it is actually a bad fit for Avid -- 1) PC only and 2) not quite strong on QT support ("Most QT Codecs")
and personally I find the interface not very friendly at all.

"PC only" not that much of a problem (IMO) all the Mac users I know, myself included have much better compression options already and would not use Sorenson anyway.

too true...too true
