Re: The new avid products... when and how much?

    Larry Rubin:

At a recent users group meeting here in Washington, the prices announced were:

Media Composer Mojo DX - $9,995.00

Media Composer Nitris DX - $14,995.00

I spoke to a reseller last week, and he stressed that these were the SRPs.  I inferred that the street prices will have some wiggle.  How much is the big Q.  He also mentioned these prices include software, and that if you already hold an MCSoft license, you can subtract $2995, the SRP of the software.

Now, we're talking.  A Mojo is starting to look like a no-brainer for people who are into tapeless.  Add a BlackMagic Broadcast Converter for $999, and your Mojo is fairly equivalent to the Nitris, minus some i/o that you may never need (TC, reference, 4 ch. audio.).

Well on Monday Apple should unveil the iPhone v2, so surely it's not the best time to release any techie products... Unless MC3 runs on it and is available through Apple's new webstore! Big Smile

'Add a BlackMagic Broadcast Converter for $999, and your Mojo is fairly equivalent to the Nitris...'

The Mojo DX does not have the DnX hardware cards so the performance will not be as good as the Nitris box. (that is my understanding)

On that basis i cannot see why anyone would buy the Mojo DX over the Nitris as if you can afford $9995 for Mojo you should be able to afford $14995 for the Nitris.

The Mojo is a flawed product that is 5 x the price of the Matrox box.
