Is there a way to change the user name that appears on the Avid splash screen during boot up? My vendor put the wrong name there when he installed 2.8 and while it's no great problem, I'd like to correct it if possible.

In the Settings folder (Applications/Avid Media Composer/Settings), there is a file 'Avid License Data'.  Move this to the desktop (you can get rid of it later).  Start MC, you'll get a license agreement to agree to.   The next time you start you'll get the same text and be invited to enter your name.
