So we have recently setup a Stand Alone assist station on an 8400 with a Xena LHe card. We have everything acid specs asked for to get the XENA LHe to run properly. Unfortunately, as you scrub the timeline you will constantly get an “Unexpected work ahead limit” error. Here is what he have tried so far (all version 8.4 and the latest QFE)1) Configured it in a 8200 didn’t work (when you remove the Xena Card it stops getting the error and all is fine)2) Ordered a new Xena card but the problem persisted3) Ordered another Xena Card and a 8400 with more RAM but the problem persists until you remove the cardAny help would be great…. I’m just looking for ANYONE who has setup a assist station STAND ALONE with a Xena and able to get it to work
We're using the Xena 2Ke, and it flys. What Xena drivers are you using, and where did they come from?

Thanks for the quick reply. The card is currently pulled but it looks like it's version 6.2.0.3 Xena HD 64. The card is the Xena LHe on a 8400 Stand alone (not attached to a bob and only has assist software). Do you have a Nitris bob and the Full Nitris software installed together? I only ask because I have worked on a system with Xena, full install Nitris, a bob, and assist software all install together and it was awesome.... but never on a system with only the assist software installed and a Xena card. It's the only thing I can think of because Xena obviously works with the full Nitris software.
We have both. We have 2 of the xw8400 Dual-Boot systems that are also Dual-Link. So, these have the Nitris DNA "and" the Xena 2Ke. Note however, that these hardware devices are mutually exclusive. In a 4:4:4 project, the Nitris DNA is disabled, and vice-versa.
We also have an xw9300 w/Xena 2ke as a stand-alone DS Assist. No performace issues have been reported.
Did you load the Avid supplied Xena drivers?
Nice setup. Yes all drivers were installed by a Avid certified reseller tech using drivers from the avid website (I watched him do it). Granted our tech company SUCKS but they keep going by the book and the errors continue. At first we configured it on an 8200 and after repeated failures they told us we needed to purchase an 8400 (I'm sure the 9300 is next on the list). Not sure if it's a bad install (the10th time) if we need the 2Ke Xena (not sure about the difference) or if it only works on the 9300. Basically, I am coming to you guys as a last attempt before i make them take it back.
So far I only can help you that the Xena 2K(e) can capture Dual-Link Signals; the Xena LH(e) only works in 4:2:2 Single Link.
Did you ask at Aja for firmware issues or different drivers?
