    Big delay AFTER playback.

    Hello all.

I am working with a 50 minute timline in SD (20:1). After I play it for any period of time, Avid will freeze up for 6 or 7 seconds once I stop playback. This is most annoying when working under tight deadlines. I can disect the timeline into smaller segments, but this is terribly annoying as well, considering that NONE of our other Avids do this (and two of those are older G5 PPCs). Any help would be appreciated. Thanks

With longer timelines, you can go to the console window and type "playlength 1" and the system will cue up only 30 seconds of content before and after the current placement of the position indicator, which will speed up your cueing time. Don't forget to reset it to "playlength 0", the default, when you want to play the entire timeline.

    Thanks for your quick response.

The info you've given me will be useful, but it has not solved my issue. I've experimented with play times, and it is till lagging for several seconds after I stop playback. argh.

Could be a zillion and one things from a corrupted sequence clip to bad RAM.

First (and easiest), delete all MCState files and empty the trash.  Create new user settings and see if that fixes the problem.

This is still a huge problem.  I've dloaded an app to test my RAM, but otherwise I have no clue.  Imagine working with your producer when the Avid delays for 10 seconds after you stop the playback...yuck!  Luckily it was only for a few hours...

Did you follow cassano's advice and trash and rebuild the site settings files?  (MC State, Site_Settings, Site_Attributes).

    Re: Big delay AFTER playback.

OK, at this point, I would recommend creating another project, open source bins from your current project, and just slap together a quick rough timeline of approx 50 minutes and see if the problem persists. If it does not, I would delete and rebuild the problem project's settings file "(project name)settings.avs" - it has probably become corrupted.  If the problem does persist in a new project, I would suggest an uninstall/reinstall of the program software is in order.
