Avid Express Pro - editing on external hard drives

Please be patient with the simplicity of the question - Avid beginner. But how does one digitise and edit OMFI Media files from an external hard drive device, without importing files onto an overloaded hard drive? Any help much appreciated.

Re: Avid Express Pro - editing on external hard drives

    Connect drive

Make sure all Omfi media files are inside a folder called Omfi Media Files in the ROOT of the drive

    Start Avid

Let Avid index the media on the drive

Open project associated with the media and edit away.

If you do not haev any project associated open a new project in the right project settings (aka sd and format) and use the media tool (hit F1 in Avid and type media tool) and have it sort all media files on the external drive. Drag them into a bin and start editing.
