Hi
Could i be sure that ALL quadro fx cards would work with MC 2,8 + 3,0 ???
Anyone tryed FX3700 PNY its half price (nearly) compared to FX4600 and the spec´s LOOKS
similiar to me !
Would i notice the diffrence of the cards when working with MC ???
Kind regards
Snedker/Jan
No gurantees that every one will work but I have tried many and they've all been absolutely fine.
The 3700 is qualified though.

We've been running MC 2.8 in our DIY6 machine with the QuadroFX1700 and it works great. So does the FX3700.
I know that Avid has a very limited graphics card certification list. I understand there reasoning for this, so many tech issues turn out to be graphic card related. That said, you do not have to run a quadrofx card. We swapped out the quadrofx card in our DIY6 machine for an ATI RAdeon card to run Adobe CS3 w/ Matrox RT.X2 LE. Just the other day I fired up MC on this system and guess what - it worked fine. No issues with an old project I had to go back into.
We did not do a comprehensive test of this, but I was surprised that I didn't get any hiccups. Bottom line is that MC will run on a much wider range of systems and hardware then Avid certifies. Avid keeps the list short to keep tech support down.
If you use a certified system you are pretty much guaranteed stable performance and reliability. That makes it worth the cost for those who have the budget. I'm also going to tell you that you can run MC on non-certified hardware with stability and reliability. You just need to make sure you do your homework and check around here -just like the original poster did.
Moderators - do you think we could start a thread or section where folks could post there non-certified machines specs, as well as any specific tweaks or things they learned along the way?

The FX 3700 card is working fine in the PC I assembled a few weeks ago which is running MC 2.8.3.
Can't answer your question regarding comparison with the FX4600 card.
Thanks for your answer ! - as you can see on my system specs i now use an geforce 8800 gts(asus) 320 MB ram and it works fine ! - would an upgrade to FX 3700 be a waste of money or could it improve my system ???
In all benchmark tests that I have seen published the fx3700 actually outperforms the fx4600 in 3D applications. Performance is 90% of the FX5600 in nearly every mark. Seems like the best bang for the buck. Just ordered a new PC equipped with it and am hoping it lives up to its' billing.
