Have just purchased a Panasonic Lumixd digital camera which also shoots HD 720p video at 30fps and recorded in Quicktime. Great little camera and great for those times when you don't have your big camera with you. So my plan was to then be able to drop any footage into a project I'm working on. However I'm in PAL land and so my timelines are at 25fps, so when I import the QT file into Avid the shots become jerky because of conversion to less fps.
Does anyone know how I can get around this so the footage is smooth? If I create a project at 30fps and import the footage plays fine but my output timelines need to be at 25 fps.
I suppose you could convert the frame rate from 30 fps to 25 fps using Fluid Motion but you'd have to upgrade to Media Composer to be able to do this.
If you ignore the sound and use the "ignoreqtrate true" console command, you will be able to import these files frame-by-frame into a 25 project. Then apply a motion effect.

http://www.24p.com/conversion.htm will lead you to some great info and there is a downloadable bin of Media Composer frame rate motion effects that you can open and use in a Pro project.
DV Film's Atlantis 2 will perform the conversion of audio and video for you (at a price)
Sorry..been away for few days. Thanks for input and I am about to upgrade to Composer, but how does using Motion Effect smooth out the movement. If frames have gone (5 every second) how can they be replaced?
AndrewAction...thanks for that page. Good info.
