Avid MC can do 4:2:2 uncompressed SD or HD. DS Nitris 4:4:4. No plugin can change that.

Before You think to much about the upgrade path to the "next level" with 4:4:4 editing. Make some calculations, and You understand that any NLE investment today, is a small fraction to what You need for doing 4:4:4 with full functionality. The full cost will be more than a Lexus.

You may not offline in SD, You will offline in HD with DNxHD36, developed on demand from the director of 'Lord of the Rings' or the full scale DNxHD codecs. And if You do not like the result, You can take it for online with a full scale 4:4:4 equipment. I think this is more cost effective.
