    P2 crashing

I am having some P2 importing and consolidating issues.  First, when I try to import using the current workflow, I get this message:

    Assertion failed: mediaDirs

    File: /Snapshots/releng.relengintel2_1196644544/vobs/coresw/ame/Projects/Mac/ ../ ../ ../ ../ppg/ame/msm/msmUtils.c, Line:387

When I looked it up in the knowledge base, it suggested importing the old way via drop and drag using the media tool.  This works somewhat, but I'm always loosing my 1st track of audio and when I consolidate to another drive, it freeze crashes the computer.

Any suggestions?  I'm going to try re-installing the software and see if that helps.

re-instal didn't fix the problem, but I think unmounting the G-Drive Q's I had connected and were using to consolidate to were the issue.  Has anyone run into this?

Are you importing from a P2 device or Virtual P2 card?

Do you have any '/' or other wild characters in the name of the folder structure? This will cause the problem you're seeing.

I am importing from a virtual p2 card and have discovered the problem is the g-tech G-Drive Q.  I copied all the media from the one drive onto another then unmounted the G-Drive Q and the AVID was happy.  Does anyone have a clue why a hard drive would cause the problem?

    Re: P2 crashing

with the material existing on two separate databases with all the same names, I'd be confused as well. After transfer, dismount the P2 card, and off you'll go.  (for the most part)

That is the way I'm doing it.  There is only one folder I am transferring from, the other gets removed when I dismount the other drive and I didn't have two copies when I was having the problems.  It has something to do with the drive.

What's the formatting of the drive?  FAT32?

Nope, mac os extended.  I always re-format a new drive before using it.
