I've been told that you should keep each Unity workspace under 100 GB and 1,200 files. Is this true? Is this a Unity limitation, or an operating system issue? Can it be worked around by making subfolders in the OMFI MediaFiles folder and keeping each subfolder under those recommended sizes?
I'm not sure where the 100GB limit came from, but 1,200 files is purely an OS9 limitation. Because, in OS9 the Cache needs to be set to 128k, the files/folder is reduced. If you're on OSX or Windows, the number can be higher. Personally, I like to keep the files /folder count belowe 3,000. This keeps the media database files smaller, which improves performance. If you're using MXF media, the files/folder count is automatically set to 5,000 (which I would prefer to see reduced to 2,500).
