At my facility we do a lot of Flash development along with video. Because a lot of people have to share Avid, flash and AE projects I have them work in the Unity workspaces where everything is saved in seperate folders. Touching any Avid mediafiles folders in Windows Explorer is punishable by death.
Now my problem - my Adrenline system is suddenly very slow to access mounted Unity workspaces through Windows Explorer. This is on a xw8200 machine. I've got two new 8400s where the access is instant. All my Avids are running 4GB RAM and are fibre connected to Unity. All three machines are also editing 100% OK in shared workspaces. It's only the 8200 that takes long through Explorer. I haven't noticed any other performance issues on this machine in any other application. Any ideas on how to improve/fix this?
MCA 2.8.1 WinXP xw8200 4GB RAM. Unity 5.0.1
Im running 4.1.5 on a LanShare EX, and i have 4 MCA fiber, Win XP, 2.8.3.
I do recall that when i went to 2.8.1 i did notice a slow down in the mounting and unmounting of drives in connection manager. I put 2.8.3 on them and it seams to have cleared it up. Might want to check into it. 2.8.3 was a CPR release.
I like the idea of using unity for AE and flash files, we do it here also, smart workflow! Gotta love shared storage!
Thanks, I'll have a look at 2.8.3. Good to know I'm not imagining things. Being new to Unity I have to tell you - I don't know how we managed without this in the past!
