Add a new video track ON TOP of the previous video tracks

    Hi there,

I have some troubles sometimes when I add a new video track on my timeline, it generally goes on top of the other tracks, but there are some times when it is randomly inserted in the middle of the tracks, or even at the bottom! Let's say I have 15 video tracks, when I add a new track, instead of going on top of the 15th track, it goes on top of the 9th....or sometimes at the very bottom.....Which forces me to manually lift up all my clips one by one in order to get a free video track on top....there must be a way to tell it to go on the top, and ON THE TOP ONLY!

Any solutions to that very appreciated.

    Cheers

It will always create the lowest unused track number. So if you have V1, V3 and V4, adding a track will give you V2.

Other than that, you can CTRL-drag the vertical position of a track. If your settings have V4 placed under V3, that will mean that when you add the fourth V-track, it will appear below V3.

There should be no need to drag clips between layers, you can move the tracks themselves.

Ctrl Alt Y allows you to add a video track and select any track number you want.

If you choose an existing tracks number, V1 for instance, you get the option to insert the track at that position. All the tracks above then resuffle their numbers.  Great for the reverse of what you are asking

No problem, Simmarly Ctrl Alt U does the same for audio tracks
