Hello All,
I'm a bit new to this site, but I joined with already... a problem. I am editing using my Avid Xpress Pro Mojo v5.7setup, and attempting to capture from a deck (Sony DSR-45). When capturing it appears to be recording to the computer just fine, then when it completes capture, there is nothing there. No clips, no nothing in the bin. I have double checked and made sure that all cables are connected. (ie. firewire, etc.) and all is right. The thing is, I have been using this same setup for quite some time now, and it just all of a sudden quits on me. I have a due dates and deadlines coming up and really need to get this working. If anyone has experienced this issue before, or by sheer luck just knows how to help me, PLEASE do. Thanks in advance.

I would try recording to a different drive, even if you have to use the :c drive to eliminate or confirm the drive itself as the source of the problem.
Try trashing and rebuilding the site settings files. In the settings folder delete the following: MC State, Site_Settings, Site_Attributes, (project name)settings.avs. On re-launch the system will detect the missing files and build new ones.
If none of the above work, it looks like an uninstall/reinstall of the Avid software is in order.
A very strange problem.

I did try what you suggested, and no luck. I dont know why its doing this. Its weird. I remember this happening once before, and I was able to fix it without the uninstall/reinstall, I just can't remember what I did. The only problem, is that being a Marine Corps computer we are unable to do that without permission from our superiors, which always runs past our deadlines. I have to figure this out. Thank you for your quick response. If you can think of anything else please let me know.
Its just when I capture, it appears to be working, red light blinking and all in the Capture Tool, but then when I push the record button again to end it, it just stops, and nothing is there. Bleh, this really puts a burden on ones shoulders.
I've never encountered this type of capturing problem before. At this point, I would try creating a new user profile and see if the problem persists.
Bump. Anyone else have any ideas? Let's thank him for his service to America by finding a solution for this...
Open the Media tool after the capture and check the media by creation date. Is the capture clip there?
If not try looking in the Creatings folder inside your OMFI MediaFiles folders or Avid MediaFiles\MXF\1 folder on your media drive. Anything there?

Hi,
I was in the Air Force, so I'll type this really slowly so even a Marine can understand it. (Kidding! A little intra-service rivalry!)
I've seen this before, but it's always been transient. A restart of the system cleared it up. If you've already tried that, then next I'd do as Larry suggested and try a new user and a new project and see if that clears it up.
If not, the next step is to delete some settings and let Xpress Pro rebuild them. Exit Xpress Pro, and then find the Settings folder in the Xpress Pro folder on your system drive (usually the C: drive). In the Settings folder, delete MC State, Site Settings, and Site Attributes.
Then find your Avid Projects folder (in 5.7, I think this will be in Documents & Settings, also on your system drive). In the Project folder, delete the Project Settings file (.avs).
Restart Xpress Pro and see if you can capture.
good luck,Carl

You know, after 8 years at the Pentagon, I'm convinced that if we didn't already have a war to deal with, the different branches of the services would gladly go to war with each other, just to establish who's "Alpha King of the Hill".
Oohrah, leatherneck! BTW, in the Air Force, only the officers go to war!
Aw, Larry, I'm not going to have to start typing all slow for you, too, am I?
Aim high!

Hey Carl, believe it or not, I'm former AF myself!

have you tried to capture composit in ? i have a mc /mojo and it wont see video on the mojo f/w but appears to be recording flashing red button and all then nothing in the bins i hooked my deck up direct to the computer and wammo all was well in avid capture world worth a try

Hi Tom,
By "typing slower" I meant to imply that Air Force people are smarter than Marines*, and therefore must talk slower, not that anyone would go forward slower than anyone else.
adios,Carl
*This is, of course, absolutely true. (More jokes! )
Hi Carl even though I grew up within an army family i still got the joke and very funny every time i hear it I was refering to the comment about only af officers going to war
even though they are 20.000 ft in the air and going some undisclosed speed
and thank god they are and now that I think of it maybe only brass going to the sh.t
seems like a great idea I stand corrected!!!!!

I see you work as an editor for the Pentagon Channel. We stream your channel live on our commanders channel. Good work.
