    Same As Source / HVX-200

Where do I find the correct HVX-200 MXF codecs that I can install into quicktime so that when I export a "Same as Source" from avid my quicktime won't be black. I do have the Avid codecs installed already so I assume that this is the issue.. :)

Re: Same As Source / HVX-200

Avid uses some kind of DVCPRO HD codec that doesn't seem to be one of thier own things. FCP uses DVCPROHDp60 (framerate is probably irrelevant as this was for a 24 frame project) for HVX media, but who knows if Avid's DVCPRO codec is even accessible through quicktime.

Bump, I was able to do this on a windows box once, but I forget which codecs I had installed.

    Anyone know the solution? Bump.

Re: Same As Source / HVX-200

When doing a Quicktime same as source export make sure you click the "Use Avid DV Codec" option. Selecting this option saves the Quicktime file with the codec identified as "Avid DV100." Then any computer with the Avid Codecs pack installed can display the Quicktime file.

If you do not select the "Use Avid DV Codec" option the Quicktime file will be saved with the codec identified as Panasonic DVCProHD. On the Windows side of the world there is no Panasonic DVCProHD codec for Quicktime and you will not have any video playback. The video is still there and any program with its own DVCProHD importer will work just fine. In the Mac universe their is a DVCProHD codec for Quicktime that is installed with FinalCut Pro.

Isn't the Avid DV100 codec for Standard Defenition? Or is that DigitalVideo 100Mbits = 100mbits DVCproHD

The 100 in the Avid DV100 codec refers to a 100mbps data rate - it is their equivalent of DVCProHD. It will also change data rates depending on the video size (i.e. DVCProHD 720/24p exported using the DV100 codec = 50mbps).

    Hope this helps!
