Ok, so I'm scraping up some cash to get upgraded to MC from Xpress since its EOL.  My Dell 650 is no longer going to cut it so I'm looking at an xw8400.  I'm looking at buying an xw8400 (1x) Quad Core 2.6Ghz, with 4GB and FX1500.  It looks good to me and the price is close to what I can spend, but the Avid list shows that I should have Dual Quad core 2.6gz+ for the 8400.  Do i NEED dual quad cores, or will I be ok with a single Quad core.  After all at the bottom of the specs page it lists the generic minimum processor rating at a single Core Duo.  So am I going to be ok here?

  Also, I'm looking at an external Sata Raid (3ware Sidecar RAID5) on a PCI-express x4 card and I'm running mojo, so the specs say I need to use an external FW card.  Any specs on what slots to use for these?

To do DNxHD capture with Mojo DX you will need 2 x Quadore (8 cores total). You can capture uncompressed HD with 1 x quadcore.

  I dont think I'll have the cash for the DX anytime soon, so I guess the 1x quadcore will work for now.  I'm just old-school mojo for the time being.

 The only thing the document does not address is eSATA. In this case you would usually put an eSATA controller where you would put the ATTO UL45/UL5D. Another option is just using a PCI bracket to convert your internal SATA port in to external. The only downside is RAIDing and such is limited to what the internal SATA controller can do (which is usually less than a dedicated SATA RAID controller). If you are going to use a multiport SATA box, you will need to use a dedicated SATA card.

CalDigit and such are the popular choices for this.
