Capture problem with Firewire Drive MC 2.8

I just upgraded from Xpress Pro to MC 2.8.  My Avid SCSI drives are just fine but I can't digitize to a 250 GB Maxtor Firewire Drive I have.  When I try it gives me a warning: "EXCEPTION OPERATION NOT SUPPORTED FILNAME CREATE0." This drive has it's own PCI slot into the G-5 and worked fine with Xpress Pro and I would digitize 15-1 video and audio to it.  The drive still plays back existing video and audio on it from XPro. The drive has it's own PCI card in the G-5 and using a Mojo.

    I'm using a dual processor 2GHz G-5 with 3GBRAM, running Mac OS 10.4.10.

    Any and all advice appreciated.

Re: Capture problem with Firewire Drive MC 2.8

I'll bet they are formatted either as NTFS  or FAT-32...right (PRobably FAT32)?

If so, that's a nice little bug introduced in 2.8.x.

Click on the drive in question and hit the Apple Key and the I key... you see the format between modified and capacity.

Aaah.  Yes, the Firewire Drive is formatted MS-DOS FAT32.

Should I re-stripe the drive using Atto for MC 2.8?

You can just format it as Mac OS Extended from the Disc Utility.

If you have no media to backup go for it... I prefer ATTO myself, but Apples Disc Utility is OK too.
