    CAN'T INSTALL MEDIA COMPOSER

Trying to install on clean system.  All goes well until it begins to install Media Composer software from original CD, then I get error:  "feature: Avid Media Composer"  Catastrophic failure"  After closing this dialog box, I get another error:  Set has encountered a problem and needs to close.  At this point, everything stops and media composer is NOT installed.

However, we have  no  idea what  you are installing (Version wise) or on what you are installing  it (should we assume it's the XP system in your profile?).

We need to know what software/hardware/Avid version you have. If you are installing on a Vista CPU, you are out of luck until June.

Ok, let's stay in this thread for  the time being, shall we?

Are  you installing from a download installer? Are you the Admin User on the system?

HAve you checked the system requirements to make sure that  your CPU conforms?

    Re: CAN'T INSTALL MEDIA COMPOSER

So, in yet another thread, you say that you ran a registry cleaner. In my experience with PC Avids, that's a bad thing,

If I were you, I would wipe that HD, install XP from scratch and then try the Avid install again.

    Re: CAN'T INSTALL MEDIA COMPOSER

Well, I don't know what I did other than re-installing 6 times, but Media Composer is now working.  On a hunch a rolled-back the video driver for my card since I had just installed the latest drive and things seem to be working as normal.  Sorry about all the threads.  I was getting error after error.  Everytime I tried to do anything, more errors would complicate the situation.  I am however, still getting the error on startup with Avidstartup, but it doesn't seem to effect the performance.
