Hello - nice to meet you all - I have found these forums immensely helpful for years, so much so that I haven't had to post something myself, until now.

Here is my dilemma:  I've been asked to produce an mpg4 file for a 30 second spot, output to CD:

NTSC (4:3) size and framerate, deinterlaced

Video Codec: MPEG2 OR MPEG4 (MPEG4 preferred)

Video Bitrate: at least 260 kbps (750 kbps preferred)

Audio Codec: MP3 vbr

Audio Bitrate: at least 70 kbps (128 Kbps preferred)

My question is - what is the best way to do this?  Export as a QT Reference, and then open in Sorenson Squeeze? 

I have version 2.7.7 of Media Composer btw...

Yes, this is the best way.  Open in Squeeze, set your codecs and bitrates the way your client wants them, and Squeeze it.

Thanks - I'm embarrassed to ask but the Help menu in Squeeze makes it SEEM easy but I cannot find an "intelligent pre-set" that matches what the client wants. For instance, I can select MP4 as the video export but nowhere can I find MP3 for the audio export.

There are certain media type restrictions you have to adhere to with MPEG4 files. I'm fairly certain MPEG4 doesn't support MP3 audio. You need to use AAC audio with MPEG4. When you choose any of the MPEG4 presets in Sorenson you will notice the audio options are limited to AAC. MPEG2, however, does support MP3 audio. You can create MPEG2 files with MP3 audio.

I would have to ask what is the delivery method of the final output. The delivery is what should determin the necessary file format
