New to Avid so forgive me if this sounds silly....
Problem: I'm having problems relinking clips I have batch captured in HDV to new media.
Story: I have a project shot in HDV and digitized all the footage (100 tapes!) at a resolution of 15:1. I put together a sequence, created a new project, dragged in that sequence, decomposed and captured it at 1:1 (HDV1080i60). Other than my usualy silly mishaps I experienced no real problems. I've gone back to the 15:1 project and made some changes to that sequence and then dragged this new sequence to the 1:1 (HDV) project, decomposed and then use the relink tool but with no success. I have tried using the various option in the relink window but still...no success. A good chunk of the clips are the same as the first sequence. There are just a few clips with different start and end timecodes. You might ask why I didn't just make the changes in the 1:1 project thus bypassing the need to relink? All my footage is in the 15:1 project and is easily accessible.
Solution: Anyone?
this is not from first hand experience, but from what I've heard, you cannot do what you are trying. if you decompose and online a sequence, you cannot just drag and old sequence in and have it sync up to the new clips - even though you decomposed that one as well.
what you are trying is logical, but there must be something in the decompose process that assigns unique numbers to the new master clips or something of that nature. =|
to test you could always feed one tape to the new sequence you changed, do a reveal file on a clip, and then a reveal file on that same clip on the other sequence that is 1:1 now. i'll bet the files are different names, hence stopping you cold.

file names shouldn't matter though. avid relinks based on tape number and timecode.
From my experience once you re-digitise footage you will be able to re-link it back the original media but you won't be able to change your original cut and re-link back to the re-digitised media. I came across this problem last year and came to the conclusion that when footage is recaptured it creates a different set of links. I think of it as backwards compatibility and not forwards compatibility.
siencs: file names shouldn't matter though. avid relinks based on tape number and timecode.
That's the theory anyway. I've never been able to make Avid relinking work with any real reliability.
That's true and I forgot to mention that my tape numbers are the same and timecode is shorter than the first time round.
Still...any suggestions?
