Audio stops & stutters after 3 seconds with Mojo(original)

Geeked I've got an original Mojo I was hoping to use with my laptop on gigs to show more than just full-screen view with dinky speakers or actually take to analog tape if asked.  I took my Mojo out of mothballs and figured it would just work.

I've been editing MCS for a few years on my HP Pavilion dv8000 series laptop using a number of external 1394a external raids and eSATA external raids.  Mainly the SATA due to the whole segmenting issue.  SATA is done by using SIIG ExpressCard add-on with G-RAID external.

I plugged Mojo in to output to a Panasonic deck analog but the audio falls out after 3 seconds and stutters.  What could cause this?  I thought it could be segmenting issue agaon so I placed an OMFI MediaFolder onto my internal drive and it does the same thing.  Also tried placing just audio on internal with Video on external thinking of old school issues I used to have with Nubus systems (Feeling old now!)

Why would my laptop do this?  I need to check the Mojo on my desktop to make sure it is functioning.  Could my Mojo be bad??  I know people have had issues with the firewire host in the past and wondered if this may be the culprit.

    I'm using MC 2.6X on a HP Pavilion dv8000 series ;a[top with 2GB RAM.

Thanks for your help in advance.  Much Appreciated.

Mojo needs to sit on it's own pci buss. Your other cards for your 1394a and e-sata raids would need to sit on either pci-e or pci-x busses that don't interfere with the traffic on the pci buss that mojo occupies. The kind of stuttering you describe sounds like mojo and some of your storage is on the same buss. Sorry, don't know your laptop, but worth checking out.

Thanks for the input.  I'm using ExpressCard with the DV8000 for secondary Firewire & eSATA card (not at the same time though).  I always figured there would be some segment issues.  I've built quite a few systems for Avid editing from scratch so it's not anything new.

I've got a question for the future about PCI-E with laptops but that's a different postBig Smile

my thinking is that most laptops are single bus units by nature of the motherboard.  I was hoping by going SATA I could get around thse issues.

However... My MOJO still does not play right and stutters when I play lowres footage offthe internal SATA harddrive.  strange stuff...  Edits well though other than the Mojo issue so I'm not at a total loss.  Full screen playback works well as well.
