    Problems upgrading

Avid sucks when it comes to updating sofware; we should not have to go through so much just to update our product.  I paid too much money for this.  I though having the dongle was security enough.

    Re: Sucks

    ???

I've never had a problem updating my software.  It's actually some of the easiest software I've ever installed and updated.

It would help to know what problems you are having.

Lashone, what kind of problems are you experiencing? I don't think it has ever taken me more than 10 minutes to update my Avid software. Not saying that you are wrong, just trying to find out what possible problems I (and others) might encounter on any future update.

    My system:

    Mac OS X v 10.4.11 / dual 2 GHz PowerPC G5

    My Avid system:

    Avid Xpress Pro v5.7

    Avid Xpress DV

I went from DV to Pro using an upgrade.  I have all the information and dongle with PC sys ID and Ser No:

What I did was a Clean Erase on my computer and now I am installing everything back.

It will not allow me to update the software because it does not recognize my sys # and codes.  It is frustrating to have to put that stuff in again; why don't they just let you download the software.  The security is tight enough witout all of this hassle.

    Re: Sucks

The only reason it's a hassle is because you are not doing it correctly.

When you purchased your upgrade, you should have received an upgrade key in your email. With that key, you go to Avid.com/register, register your purchase and input your upgrade key. You will then receive an email with a dongle updater file.

You download the dongle manager app and use that updater file to update your dongle.

Uninstall DV and Install 'Pro and you are off and running.

Not really all that difficult. Please follow the directions that are emailed to you very carefully.
