Can anybody help me with this? I was given some .mov files that is DVC PRO HD, 720p/30fps. When I import it into avid the audio plays but the video is white all thorough.
It seems I might need a codec but not sure what or where to downlod one. thanks.
you might want to try this one although it should be available anyway..

apparently I already have that codec as I tried to install it and it said I already have it on my system.
yeah as said it should be there already. Most of the time the problem (was) is on Mac as it did not have a dvcpro codec for a while.. on pc it usualy works. Are you sure it is that codec they used?
According to the DOP that's the codec he used.
Now after doing some tinkering in the Import settings it starting working. I can't even verify the steps i did but it works. The video clips now show and I'm happy, well sort of.
I did a test export and have the same issue with the exported quicktime, the playback is white
It might have used Apple's DVC Pro HD codec - which is not available on the PC. You will need to open that on a Mac and convert it from there.

In case this is true there is a simple solution, try downloading that Mac DVCpro HD codec for PC. from DVfilm.com it's called raylight. First try the demo version if it works.
could you open the quicktime files on your PC with quicktime before trying to import into Avid? was it also white screen there?
