As soon as the capturing begins the whole PC freezes.  It happens after several clips have already been captured, editing has begun and titles have been added.  I'm using a Sony GV-D1000 deck with fire wire.  Once it freezes the only alternative is to hold down the PC power button.

I would really appreciate any help!

Please post your system specs in your profile or in the thread.  Without knowning anything about the computer and software you are using, it's impossible to help you.

 In particular, are you running a qualified graphics card?
