Did the upgrade from Xpro to MC soft v2.8 on my work PC.
Is there a version of anything (Xpro, MC) I can now run on my ageing Titanium G4 PowerBook 1GHz 1GB RAM (OS X 10.4.11) using the same dongle? I used to move between the two systems seamlessly...
Want to at least be able to view clips...
Thanks for any pointers!
That is a bit old. I believe the dongles are fully downward compatible, so you may to try and run AXP 4.6 or 4.8 on that machine. Would not expect too wonderful behaviour, though.
Hi JamesG,
I have a Tit PowerBook G4 867, same memory as yours. I currently use it to off load P2 media via the pcmcia slot to both the internal and external FW drives. I have installed Xpress Pro 5.8.3 and I also installed MC 2.8.3 as a test and then removed it. Both software's will install on my machine with OS 10.4.11 without issue, but (big but) because the graphics card in these machine's is not supported you will get no real time update in either displays. It will play the timeline but in HD you will drop frames due to slow processor + HDD + graphics. You can hear audio but no video update. However if you just want to check video and audio you can scrub in the timeline and get instant updates. This machine does standard DV SD without issues. I had Xpro 4.8.4 on it for some time prior to moving to version 5 of XPro, without problems.
Steve.
