    Need advice on video/audio mixdowns in relation to exporting

    Sorry in advance for the newbness of this question:

    I have just finished my workflow and want to export to QT and later go on to author it to DVD.

    I've done this in the past in a couple of different ways and am still a bit foggy when it comes down to this bit.

    My questions are;

    a. Is it preferable to do video and audio mixdowns before exporting and if not when should I be using these?

    b. If I do do an audio mixdown, should I take the four audio tracks and mix them down to one channel and then repeat this process?

    c. Do I mixdown both video channels to one new one?

    Like I said I have exported various things before with mixed results, but I just want to find out if there is a 'right' way to do it, so that I get the maximum quality when authoring.

    Thanks

    Hi Dariv

    I have the same workflow situation as you, I always mix down video.  I assume you don't need to do any dubbing or extra audio work if you want to mix these down too, so I would do that.  This is what I do and I have never had a bad disk.

    I do not think it matters.  For best results, export a QT REF.  Take the QT REF file into a program such as Sorenson Squeeze to make the file you need to burn a DVD.
