This is the first "big" project I have as a freelance editor.
What I am using:
Setup- Mac Book Pro, Avid Media Composer 2.8, quicktime player 7.4.5, Final Cut Pro EXPRESS 4HD
Footage info- DVCPro HD (720p60), 23.98 fps, actual size (1248X702). It was shot off the new tapless (p2) panasonic hvx200 camera. But the footage was sent to me on a hard drive of quicktime files (must have been converted from the MXF files).
situation: I am editing a pilot for 20th Century FOX as a testing pilot and set-up the Avid, thus dragging in the clips of quicktime video. Once these were done, I checked it out and there was not video, just the audio. Then I just tried to open it plainly with quicktime and it showed a white screen (of death), again no video just audio. So, I am stuck doing this project (due in four/five days) with no video being shown anywhere with a cleaver writer hoping I cut his pilot well.
I am in desperate need of help, if you could take the time to help or give me a quick walk through of how you would set up the project I would be very greatful.
Also, if different codecs are needed if you could supply a little info or links to them
THANKS for taking the time,

I'm assuming by this you mean you imported the QT movies into an Avid project using the import tool. The white screen is usually an indication that a codec was used that is not Avid compatible. Your best bet would be to download this free converter program and convert the QT to an AVI file and try again.

Well, the first thing that pops out, is QT 7.4.5 is absolutely not supported. I'd back-rev that first. Please refer to the ReadMe file that accompanied your Avid software, and/or this Matrix:

What version of quicktime did they use to make the files?
Hey, thanks for the record timing, you can probably tell I don't use forums much.
Thanks for the info thus far, I am checking out the links right now
The DVCPro HD codecs are installed when you install FCS. I think Panasonic's website has them too.
Do you really want to know what's wrong...or do you just want me to fix it?

It is a bug from Avid as you can see here:
http://avidtechnology.custhelp.com/cgi-bin/avidtechnology.cfg/php/enduser/std_adp.php?p_faqid=74393
I think it will be solved with version 3.
I would transcode the quicktimes with another codec or tiff-sequence or use FCP if it takes too much time.
