    Media Source Change Refresh

Couldn't think of another subject line.  still early.  Like in FCP, Avid should look into 'aware' timelines, where elements used as graphics would automatically update upon creation of a newer version of the linked graphic.

Do you mean if I import GraphicA, then change GraphicA, it's updated in all my timelines?  If that's what you mean, Avid gives you the option to update.  It's "Batch Import".  That way you control if you want your timeline to update or not.

Yep. the 'Batch Import' function is great, Michael.  I use it frequently.  A while back, my posts regarding the Batch Import not changing rendered graphics in a timeline was a busy post subject.

The 'Batch Capture requires a number of specific 'points and clicks'. Allow me to re-phrase.  How about an "Auto Refresh" function an editor can ascribe to that graphic that would automatically refresh when a change to that specific file is detected?   This functionality would limit the updates to those files subject to frequent modification...

...or am I the only one with clients who can't make up their minds?

The problem with that is that Avid has no reason to "look at" your original graphic, because when you import it, it makes its own file and stores it in its own place.  It doesn't ever reference the actual file you just told it to import because it creates its own.  For all intents and purposes, your file that you point to when importing no longer has any ties to Avid whatsoever.

I definitely don't want Avid to update my graphics everytime I change them--too risky, and I don't want my NLE to assume that much.

However, I really like your suggestion of a "Refresh" option.  It would be nice to right click a graphic in the bin and hit "Refresh" or "Reload" (ala After Effects) and it reimports and replaces the graphic as a background process.  If the original file is no long available it could throw up a message or just not change the graphic and keep the original (ala After Effects).  It would save time having to go through the Batch Import box everytime.
