Hi,

I am working in a university with an Xpress Pro Studio system v5.2.1.

The machine and software have never been upgraded or received any updates.

Recently I began learning Avid 3D and discovered to my woe that there is a bug in the software which prevents the operation of the Free Orbit Camera Rig.

This was recognised bug according to discussion on this thread http://community.avid.com/forums/p/8367/47726.aspx#47726 was due to be fixed in the update for v5.2.3

My question is are these older updates available somewhere on the Avid site or will I need to upgrade the system to the most recent version of Xpress Studio?

Also, the system is runnig on an academic license so are there any issues I need to consider when updating.

You can download the latest version of Studio Toolkit, which would be 5.7.

I presume this upgrade covers only Avid FX, 3D and Avid DVD?  So Xpress Pro and Pro Tools would need to be upgraded seperately - is this correct?

I have had a look at the upgrade page and as I understand it I first need to upgrade to v5,6 and then to 5.7.

The upgrade page requests an 'Upgrade Key' which comes as part of an upgrade kit.

I don't have an upgrade key - do you know how I would obtain one for this system?

Previously, whenever I have upgraded my Xpress Pro system at my home studio I have not needed an upgrade key.

The upgrade option I am looking at is Avid Studio HD Complete.

I am working at a university which has three Avid Xpress Pro (2 Xpress Pro and 1 Studio Complete) systems it would like to upgrade (software only).

All software is running under an academic license.

The main system is a Studio Complete system which I need to upgrade to the current version of the software.

I can buy an upgrade from the Avid store in the UK for around 300GBP but this is a commercial upgrade and I don't know if this is compatible with the academic software we own.

If it is, does it affect out license?

Download options on the Avid website ask for an upgrade key which I do not have and cannot find any information about where to get one.

I have telephoned Avid UK Sales repeatededly, they are never there,  and do not get a reply to my messages which is all very unhelpful.

Is there anyone out there who can advise me what route I need to take?
