New online channel for film and TV production launches

    Hello

We have recently launched an online channel for production people in the world of film and TV.

Lots of content, including an interview with fellow Avid editorm, Anne Coates, Lawrence of Arabia (Oscar win), Elephant man and most recently Golden Compass.

    see: www.reel-show.tv

It's free to register for all. It's early days yet, but it'd be good to hear your feedback.

    All the best

    Denise

I would have loved to look around the site a bit, but I can't seem to do anything other than watch the video on the main page without registering first!?!? Heck I couldn't even use the volume control for the video without registering. This is a bit restrictive don't ya think?

-and today's the thirtieth anniversary of the creation of the first spam by a DEC marketting man!

Quoting Monty Python: "Spam, spam, spam, spam, spam, spam, spam ..." (repeat as desired).

The makers of SPAM (canned meat product) regard the use of capitalisation to describe spam (irritating unsolicitated emails) as an infringement of their branding.

     Hi Mike

    Points taken.

Audio has been particularly challenging and there is much tweaking to be done. I'll ask the back-end guys to look into the volume control.

We've gone down the registration route, after much debate, to gain as much info as possible about the people who are watching. Not in a Big Brother way, but so as to know what type of program would be worthwhile spending time and effort to make. It's also really useful for sponsors to know more than general stats - though we'll never pass on detailed information and the most that will happen is that you'll receive an email informing you of new programming, competitions, etc once or twice a month - or not if you say so - this way we can keep it free to view.

As I said, these are early days and your feedback and critisisms are very useful and appreciated. Also, if there are areas you would like to see covered (interviews, products tests, techniques, etc) please let me know.

    As for SPAM.

I've been very selective in where I have posted online. I assumed the Media Composer forum to be populated by exactly the type of folk who would be interested in this. Please feel free to email me directy to tell me otherwise. All abuse, personal or otherwise, accepted.

    Best
