Yes, we are making that big a jump in MC versions. Our storage (see system specs) will remain the same.

Our updated PC with be a Dell 490.  What major changes/goodies should we be looking for/looking forward to?

Um...  it won't crash every Hour... um... it won't crash every 10 minutes... umm.... Spectramatte, Motion tracker plugins, ummm... you can run windows XP SP2...  you can edit HD.  Ummm... you can edit HDV and DVCProHD... Um....

Um...

MAN! how did you survive on that 1.1.1 for so long????

We're a local TV station, so no HD, no HDV. All SD DVCPro, DV and Beta SP.

Guess we were lucky; it hardly ever crashed. It has been a very reliable box. Once in a very great while we would get a DIO error and couldn't capture. We'd just shut down MC and start it back up.

How does Spectramatte do with 4:1:1 material? We capture through SDI. Any advantage to bringing it in 1:1 for chromakey, or am I just putting a dress on a pig?

I am looking forward to the motion tracker stuff. . .
